ACB Books Kishtwar Patwari for Allegedly Demanding ₹5 Lakh Bribe; ₹3 Lakh Accepted Through Cheque

Jammu, Aug 11 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against Mohd Arif Mir, the then Patwari of Patwar Halqa Trigam, Kishtwar, for allegedly demanding ₹5 lakh in illegal gratification from a complainant and accepting ₹3 lakh through a cheque for issuance of a Fard.

Spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads that, ACB has registered a case FIR No.02/2026 u/s 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended) P/S ACB Doda against accused person namely Mohd Arif Mir, the then Patwari, Patwar Halqa Trigam S/o Ghulam Abbas Mir R/o Malipeth, Near Grid Station, Kishtwar on the basis of complaint.

The case was initiated following a verification conducted by the ACB DKR Jammu into the allegations that the said Patwari, Patwar Halqa Trigam being a public servant, abused his official position by demanding illegal gratification of Rs.5,00,000/- from the complainant for issuance of Fard and accepted Rs.3,00,000/- through Cheque as illegal gratification, whereafter the Fard was issued.

During the course of investigation, the ACB obtained search warrant from the Hon’ble Court and search was conducted at the residential house of accused patwari situated at Malipeth, Near Grid Station, Kishtwar in presence of Magistrate and independent witnesses.

Further investigation of the case is in progress. (JKNS)
