Anantnag , Aug 7 (JKNS): Three cows were killed after a lightning strike hit a tree, causing it to collapse on the animals in Matti Bidhard village of Tehsil Larnoo in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district .
Officials told news agency JKNS, The deceased animals belonged to Sajad Ahmad Wagay, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wagay, who lost two cows, and Mohmad Shafi Doie, son of Mohmad Aazim Doie, who lost one cow.
The affected families said the cows were their primary source of livelihood, and they relied on selling milk to support their households. The sudden loss has left them in severe financial distress.
The families have appealed to the district administration and the concerned authorities to provide immediate financial compensation, stating that they are economically weak and cannot afford to replace the animals on their own.
Locals have also urged the administration to assess the damage at the earliest and extend all possible assistance to the affected families. (JKNS)
