Conducted by experienced NSD theatre professionals, the programme enabled students to develop their artistic abilities while building confidence, communication skills and teamwork.

The concluding ceremony featured a series of impressive theatrical performances by the participants, showcasing the skills they had acquired during the workshop. The performances reflected creativity, discipline and self-confidence, earning appreciation from the audience.

The students presented thought-provoking plays carrying strong social messages on respect for parents, gender equality, dignity of labour, harmonious neighbourhood relations and the importance of avoiding misunderstandings that weaken family and social bonds.

The skits also highlighted the need to treat domestic workers and labourers with dignity while promoting compassion, kindness and moral values in society.

The event was attended by a large gathering of parents, teachers and students, who applauded the young performers for their confidence and stage presence.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson of Shemstar International School Bilkees Khan thanked the National School of Drama for selecting the institution to host the workshop. She said such programmes provide students with an opportunity to explore and nurture their hidden talents beyond academics and congratulated the participants for their outstanding performances.

School Principal Imran Ahmad Khan encouraged students to uphold the values of humanity, discipline and good character in their daily lives. He urged them to apply the lessons learned during the workshop and grow into responsible and compassionate citizens.

Cultural Head of Shemstar International School, Idrees Khan, expressed gratitude to the NSD management for successfully conducting the workshop. He said the initiative had significantly enhanced students’ confidence and provided them with a meaningful platform to showcase their creativity, while appreciating the dedication of the NSD team in nurturing young talent.

Sharing his feedback, parent Syed Adfar appreciated NSD for offering children opportunities beyond classroom education. He observed that theatre activities help reduce stress, improve confidence, strengthen communication skills and contribute positively to students’ mental well-being, adding that similar programmes should be organised in more educational institutions.

Workshop Director and Coordinator of NSD TIE Centre Srinagar, Sandeep Chaudhary, thanked the management of Shemstar International School for its support and cooperation. He said the Theatre in Education initiative aims to introduce students to theatre and other cultural activities alongside formal education, helping them develop creativity, confidence, leadership qualities and essential life skills.

The workshop was conducted under the direction of Sandeep Chaudhary, with Moazzam Ali serving as Group Leader, while Tahir Ahmad Najar and Javid Ahmad Khan assisted as facilitators.

The National School of Drama reaffirmed its commitment to promoting quality theatre education across Jammu & Kashmir through similar workshops and outreach initiatives in the future. (JKNS)
