Kupwara, Aug 2 (JKNS): In view of the recent terrorist attacks in Kashmir and the killing of innocent non-local labourers, security agencies have further intensified precautionary measures across the Valley. As part of these efforts, Police Station Willgam has been conducting regular naka checking and search operations at sensitive locations across its jurisdiction to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.
On Saturday, a special team from Police Station Willgam, led by SHO Mudassir Shafi, carried out a comprehensive search and checking operation in Tarthpora and its adjoining areas. Nakas were established at key roads, entry and exit points, and public places, where vehicles, motorcycles, and pedestrians were thoroughly checked. Police also verified identity cards, vehicle registration documents, and other relevant papers to monitor any suspicious movement.
The police team also inspected shops and business establishments in the area and interacted with traders regarding security measures. Shopkeepers were urged to immediately report any suspicious person or unusual activity to the nearest police station so that timely action could be taken.
Police officials stated that the primary objective of the naka checking is to safeguard the lives and property of the public, monitor suspicious movements, and further strengthen peace and security in the area. They added that, considering the prevailing security situation, the police remain on high alert and are working in close coordination with other security agencies to ensure effective implementation of safety measures.
During the operation, citizens were also requested to cooperate fully with the police. Authorities appealed to the public not to pay attention to rumours, to extend full cooperation to law enforcement agencies, and to immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity or unattended objects.
Local residents appreciated the proactive security measures, describing them as the need of the hour under the current circumstances. They expressed hope that continuous police vigilance and checking would further strengthen peace and security in the area while thwarting the designs of anti-social and criminal elements.
Police further clarified that naka checking, patrolling, and search operations will continue across different parts of the district in the coming days to ensure a safe environment for the public and maintain lasting peace and stability. (JKNS)
