Anantnag, Aug 3 (JKNS): The deteriorating condition of several roads across the Breng area has become a major concern for residents, with people urging the authorities to take immediate steps for macadamization and comprehensive road repairs.

Roads are the backbone of any society, serving as vital links between villages, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, government offices, markets, and other essential services.

A well-maintained road network not only ensures safe and efficient transportation but also contributes significantly to economic growth, tourism, trade, education, and overall regional development.

Over the years, several road stretches in Breng have suffered severe damage due to wear and tear, changing weather conditions, and inadequate maintenance. Large potholes, broken surfaces, and uneven roads have made commuting difficult and hazardous for motorists, pedestrians, students, patients, and public transport operators.

Residents say the damaged roads have increased the risk of road accidents, caused frequent vehicle damage, delayed emergency services, and added unnecessary financial burdens on commuters.

During rainfall, many potholes become submerged, making them nearly impossible to detect and further increasing the danger to road users.

Locals have expressed concern that poor road infrastructure is affecting daily life and slowing the socio-economic development of the region.

Farmers transporting agricultural produce, traders conducting business, school-going children, and patients travelling for medical treatment are among those facing the greatest hardships.

The general public has appealed to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, the District Administration, and the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department, PMGSY to conduct a detailed survey of all damaged road stretches in the Breng area and immediately begin macadamization and necessary repair works.

Residents have urged the authorities to prioritise roads that are in critical condition to prevent accidents and ensure safe, smooth, and uninterrupted connectivity.

People have also requested public representatives and concerned officials to personally visit the affected areas and assess the ground situation so that appropriate action can be taken without delay.

Ensuring quality road infrastructure is not merely a matter of convenience but a fundamental requirement for public safety, economic progress, and balanced regional development.

The people of Breng now hope that their genuine concerns will be addressed promptly and that the long-pending demand for road repairs and macadamization will receive the attention it deserves. (JKNS)
