Baramulla, July 29 (JKNS): Residents of Palhallan have expressed concern over the poor drainage system, inadequate street lighting, and non-functional public toilets in the area, urging the authorities to address the issues at the earliest.

Residents told news agency JKNS that even light rainfall leads to waterlogging in several parts of the area, causing inconvenience to commuters, shopkeepers, and local residents. They said the lack of proper drainage has become a persistent problem.

They also said the absence of street lights in the market and other important locations makes movement difficult after sunset, raising safety concerns for pedestrians.

The residents further alleged that public toilets have already been constructed but remain locked and have not been made operational for public use. They urged the concerned authorities to open the facility without further delay.

Demanding immediate intervention, the residents appealed to the administration to improve the drainage system, install adequate street lights, and make the public toilets functional on a priority basis.

Meanwhile, speaking to JKNS, the Block Development Officer (BDO), Pattan, said that all Gram Panchayat development works are discussed and finalized in the Gram Sabha.

He said the list of proposed development works is prepared and approved during Gram Sabha meetings, after which the Block Development Office, Pattan, executes the works as per the approved proposals and the prescribed procedure. (JKNS)
