Srinagar, July 28 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said around 900 youth have either secured employment or been shortlisted during the Mega Job Fair 2026 organised at Amar Singh College, Srinagar, describing it as a significant step towards addressing unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the event, Omar Abdullah, as per news agency JKNS, said around 470 youth received on-the-spot recruitment while another 430 candidates have been shortlisted and are expected to receive appointment orders after completing the interview process.

He said the response to the job fair has been encouraging, with nearly 5,300 youth registering to participate.

 

“We are trying our best to reduce unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir. The more we succeed in creating employment opportunities for our youth, the better it will be for the future of the Union Territory,” the Chief Minister said.

 

Omar Abdullah expressed hope that more Mega Job Fairs would be organised across Jammu and Kashmir to connect young job seekers with private sector opportunities. (JKNS)
