I&FC Directs Flood Staff to Report Immediately as Jhelum Water Level Nears Warning Mark

Department issues fresh advisory as Sangam, Ram Munshibagh expected to touch warning level shortly; public urged to stay away from rivers, streams

Srinagar, July 23 (JKNS): The Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department Kashmir on Thursday directed all officers and officials assigned flood duty in South and Central Kashmir to report to their respective duty locations immediately as the water level in River Jhelum is expected to reach the warning level shortly.

According to an advisory issued by the Chief Engineer, I&FC Department Kashmir, as per news agency JKNS, the water levels at the Sangam and Ram Munshibagh monitoring stations are expected to touch the warning level shortly.

 

In view of the developing situation, all officers and officials from various departments assigned flood duties in South and Central Kashmir have been asked to report to their designated duty stations without delay to ensure preparedness and timely response.

 

The department has also once again appealed to the general public to exercise utmost caution and refrain from venturing near rivers, streams and other water bodies until the situation improves.

 

The advisory has been issued by the Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Kashmir, amid continued heavy rainfall across the Valley. (JKNS)
