Among the major issues discussed was the need to create greater employment opportunities and skill development programmes for youth in the border region. Doi stressed that unemployment remains one of the biggest concerns for young people and sought focused initiatives to enhance their livelihood prospects.

He also raised the issue of road connectivity and infrastructure, emphasizing the need for better roads and communication facilities to improve accessibility to far-flung villages. He urged the administration to accelerate the execution of ongoing infrastructure projects and ensure timely completion of developmental works.

The meeting also focused on the effective implementation of the Vibrant Village Programme and the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). Doi requested that all eligible villages in the border belt receive the intended benefits of these flagship schemes to improve living standards and essential civic amenities.

Highlighting the difficulties faced by residents of remote areas, he sought significant improvements in healthcare and educational infrastructure, including better staffing of medical institutions, enhanced educational facilities, and improved access to essential services.

Chowdhary Khurshid Doi further urged the Lieutenant Governor to consider the creation of Special Police Officer (SPO) posts for the border areas of Karnah to strengthen local security, generate employment, and support youth from border villages.

In addition, he proposed the establishment of a Gujri Cultural Club in Karnah to preserve and promote the Gujri language, culture, and traditions while providing a constructive platform for local youth to engage in cultural, literary, and educational activities.

He also brought several other issues related to the welfare and overall development of tribal communities and border residents, seeking special attention from the administration to address their long-pending concerns.

The Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing to all the issues and appreciated the constructive suggestions put forward during the meeting.

He assured Chowdhary Khurshid Doi that the concerns raised would be examined on priority and that the administration remains committed to the holistic development of Karnah’s border villages, including Gundi Gujran and other remote areas.

Speaking after the meeting, Chowdhary Khurshid Doi expressed gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor for giving him an opportunity to present the aspirations and concerns of the people of Karnah.

He said he was hopeful that the assurances extended during the meeting would translate into concrete developmental initiatives benefiting the border population. (JKNS)
