University of Kashmir Invites Applications for JKSET/LASET-2026; Exam on October 25

Online registration from July 24 to August 20; Test to be held in 41 subjects across Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh

Srinagar, July 22 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test Agency, University of Kashmir, has issued the notification for the Jammu & Kashmir State Eligibility Test (JKSET) and Ladakh State Eligibility Test (LASET)-2026 for determining the eligibility of candidates for appointment as Assistant Professors in Universities and Colleges of the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

According to the notification issued by the University, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, the JKSET/LASET-2026 examination will be conducted on October 25, 2026 (Sunday). Candidates qualifying the examination will be eligible for appointment as Assistant Professors and admission to Ph.D. programmes. The University of Kashmir, as the nodal agency, will conduct the examination in 41 subjects across examination centres in Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh.

The notification states that the online application process will commence on July 24, 2026, while the last date for submission of applications without late fee is August 20, 2026. Candidates can submit applications with a late fee up to August 25, 2026. Admit cards will be available for download from October 8, 2026.

The application fee has been fixed at ₹1,200 for General/Unreserved category candidates, ₹900 for RBA, ALC-IB, OBC and EWS candidates, and ₹700 for SC/ST (I & II), Transgender candidates and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) having 40 per cent disability. With a late fee, the charges will be ₹1,800, ₹1,500 and ₹1,300, respectively.

The examination will be held at three main centres. The Kashmir Centre will have sub-centres at Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla; the Jammu Centre will have sub-centres at Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur and Bhaderwah; while the Ladakh Centre will have sub-centres at Leh and Kargil.

The University will conduct the examination in 41 subjects, including General Paper (Paper-I), Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Arab Culture & Islamic Studies, Arabic, Buddhist, Jaina, Gandhian & Peace Studies, Commerce, Computer Science & Applications, Dogri, Economics, Education, Electronic Science, English, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Hindi, History, Home Science, Kashmiri, Law, Library & Information Science, Linguistics, Management, Mass Communication & Journalism, Music, Persian, Philosophy, Physical Education, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Social Work, Sociology, Urdu, Tourism Administration & Management, Anthropology and Women Studies.

The notification further advises candidates to carefully read all eligibility conditions and instructions before submitting the online application. It states that the eligibility of applicants will be determined with reference to the last date of submission of online application forms.

Candidates have been advised not to wait for the last date to apply in order to avoid technical issues or heavy traffic on the online portal. The University has clarified that it will not be responsible for network-related problems during submission of applications.

The examination fee is to be paid only through the online payment gateway integrated with the application portal. Payments through demand draft, money order, cheque, cash deposit or any offline mode will not be accepted. The University has also made it clear that the examination fee, once paid, shall not be refunded or adjusted under any circumstances, including withdrawal of candidature, absence in the examination or rejection of the application.

Candidates can apply online through the official University websites: www.kashmiruniversity.net and set.uok.edu.in. The display date of answer keys will be announced separately on the University website. (JKNS)
