Schools Across J&K to Reopen on July 27 as Govt Extends Summer Vacation Till July 26 Amid Inclement Weather

Decision now applies to Summer Zones of Jammu Division as well; Education Minister Sakina Itoo says safety of students, teachers and families remains government's top priority

Srinagar, July 21 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday extended the summer vacation in all government and recognised private schools across the Union Territory till July 26, with schools now scheduled to reopen on Monday, July 27, in view of the prevailing inclement weather.

As per news agency JKNS, Education Minister Sakina Itoo said the extension, which was earlier announced for schools in the Kashmir Division and Winter Zones of Jammu Division, will now also apply to all schools in the Summer Zones of Jammu Division.

Itoo said, “Keeping the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and their families as our foremost priority, the summer vacation for all Government and recognized private schools in the Kashmir Division and Winter Zones of Jammu Division is hereby extended up to 26th July, 2026.”

 

“This shall also apply to all schools in the Summer Zones of Jammu Division. Schools across J&K will reopen on Monday, 27th July, 2026,” the Minister said.

 

Sakina Itoo said the decision has been taken keeping the safety and well-being of students, teachers and their families as the government’s foremost priority amid the adverse weather conditions.

 

She appealed to the public to remain vigilant, stay safe and strictly follow advisories issued by the concerned authorities.

 

“I request everyone to stay safe, remain vigilant, and follow the advisories issued by the concerned authorities. Wishing everyone good health and safety,” Itoo added. (JKNS)
