Responding promptly to the demands and concerns of the local civil population, the Indian Army coordinated with the civil administration and Animal Husbandry Department to conduct a door-to-door veterinary outreach programme across different remote Dhoks occupied by Bakarwals during summer months. The initiative aimed to assess the health of the livestock and provide essential veterinary guidance and assistance to local residents.

During the outreach, more than 50 cattle per dhok were examined at various locations, along with approximately 35 horses and other livestock, including sheep and goat.

Special attention was given to the concerns of women, who play a vital role in caring for livestock and often remain closely associated with cattle rearing activities in these remote areas.

The villagers were also educated about preventive measures, early identification of diseases, emergency care and ways to protect animals from sudden illness or injuries. Awareness was further provided on how timely intervention can help save valuable livestock and prevent the spread of diseases.

The camp was jointly conducted by Remount Veterinary Corps of Indian Army and Animal Husbandry Department VAS doctors and para-veterinary staff, alongside with dedication and compassion.

The local population, civil society members and senior citizens expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army and the Animal Husbandry Department for their selfless service and compassionate outreach.

The initiative once again reflected the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to the welfare, dignity and well-being of the people living in the most remote and challenging terrains of the nation.
