Budgam, July 17 (JKNS): Tens of thousands of mourners from different districts of Kashmir Valley participated with deep devotion and reverence in the annual Majlis-e-Hussaini held at the Astaan-e-Aaliya of Hazrat Mir Syed Shams-ud-Din Araqi (RA), Chadoora. The event was organized under the auspices of the Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian.
The programme commenced at 9:00 a.m. with the recitation of elegies (Marsiya Khwani), followed by the Friday sermon and congregational Friday prayers led by the President of Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian, Hujjat-ul-Islam wal Muslimeen Agha Syed Hassan Al-Mousavi Al-Safavi.
Addressing the gathering, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Mousavi Al-Safavi highlighted the significance of the movement of Jihad-e-Tabyeen (the struggle for clarifying the truth) that began after the tragedy of Karbala. He said that although the apparent military phase ended with the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS), the mission of safeguarding the true message of Islam, exposing falsehood, and upholding justice continued through the historic sermons of Hazrat Zainab (SA).
He stated that through her courageous addresses in Kufa and the court of Yazid, Hazrat Zainab (SA) transformed what appeared to be a military defeat into an everlasting moral, intellectual, and ideological victory, exposing the true nature of Yazid’s rule before the world.
The Anjuman President said that Yazid had established a vast political, religious, and ideological system aimed at distorting Islamic teachings, suppressing the status and teachings of the Ahlul Bayt (AS), and legitimizing oppression. However, the sermons of Hazrat Zainab (SA) dismantled this false narrative, restored the true spirit of Islam, and demonstrated that faith, righteousness, and steadfastness before Almighty Allah—not political power or wealth—are the true standards of honour and dignity.
He further observed that throughout history, oppressive regimes have resorted to false accusations, character assassination, and propaganda against the Prophets and the righteous to justify their tyranny. Yazid adopted the same approach against Imam Hussain (AS) and the Ahlul Bayt (AS), but Hazrat Zainab’s (SA) powerful sermons permanently defeated that propaganda and established that standing against oppression is a defence of the true faith.
Speaking on the contemporary relevance of the message of Karbala, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Mousavi Al-Safavi said that the struggle against oppression, injustice, and tyranny continues in the path of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, founded by Imam Ruhollah Khomeini (RA). He added that the movement has continued with greater determination, resilience, and ideological strength under its leadership.
Concluding his address, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Mousavi Al-Safavi offered special prayers at the shrine of Hazrat Mir Syed Shams-ud-Din Araqi (RA), praying for the exalted status of the revered saint and Allah’s infinite mercy upon him. He also prayed for peace, dignity, and victory for the oppressed people of Palestine, Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen, for the safety and success of the Islamic Republic of Iran, its religious leadership, scholars, and defenders, for the unity of the Muslim Ummah, and for the ultimate triumph of truth over oppression.
