Srinagar, July 15 (JKNS): In a significant boost to agricultural infrastructure, the upgradation of the Balhama Irrigation Canal has been approved at an estimated cost of ₹2.72 crore, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the residents and farming community in the area.
The project is expected to strengthen the irrigation network by ensuring a more reliable water supply to agricultural lands, improving farming conditions and boosting agricultural productivity. It is also anticipated to benefit the local economy by enhancing the livelihoods of farmers and others dependent on agriculture.
The initiative is expected to address longstanding irrigation challenges in the area and contribute to sustainable agricultural development and long-term growth.
Lal Chowk MLA Ahsan Pardesi welcomed the approval and expressed gratitude to the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department for its timely action and support in making the project a reality. (JKNS)
