The program specifically targets the martial arts disciplines of Wushu, Kurash, and Judo, aiming to equip departmental sports officials with modern coaching methodologies, new rule amendments, and international competition procedures.

The training calendar successfully kicked off with the Wushu Refresher Course, held from July 1st to July 5th, 2026, which brought together forty technical officials and physical education teachers drawn from all twenty districts of Jammu & Kashmir.

The inaugural session was graced by Tina Mahajan Deputy Director Central, who attended as the Chief Guest and emphasized that continuous learning is vital for sports development.

In her address, she encouraged the participants to actively implement modern coaching standards at the grassroots level to nurture budding athletic talent across the Union Territory.

Expert resource persons deputed by the Directorate, including Ajay Pal Gill and Nitin Sharma, led the intensive program, breaking down complex technical aspects through interactive classroom lectures and live practical demonstrations.

Following the successful conclusion of the Wushu capsule, the Kurash Refresher Course commenced on July 8th and will run until July 12th, 2026, with another batch of forty officials currently undergoing rigorous training to update their skills in line with the latest competition guidelines.

The final leg of this extensive technical upgrade will see the Judo Refresher Course take place from July 22nd to July 26th, 2026. To ensure a highly productive learning environment, the Directorate has made comprehensive arrangements for the participants, including premium boarding and lodging facilities at the Nagrota Base Camp.

This proactive initiative by YSS J&K highlights its long-term commitment to upgrading its technical manpower, ensuring that sports competitions across the Union Territory are conducted efficiently, fairly, and in perfect alignment with national and international standards. (JKNS)
