As part of the programme, the participants are receiving hands-on training in the Appliqué Artisan course, where they are learning the fundamentals of appliqué work and developing practical skills in this traditional craft.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Mrs. Kunzes Angmo, Headmistress of Government Higher Secondary School, Saliskote, Kargil.

Appreciating the initiative, she emphasised the importance of vocational education in empowering young students with industry-relevant skills at an early stage and preparing them for future employment opportunities.

The training programme commenced on 4 June 2026 and is scheduled to conclude on 15 July 2026. Throughout the programme, participants are receiving structured, practical training under the guidance of experienced trainers, enabling them to acquire valuable technical skills and gain exposure to career opportunities in the handicrafts sector.

Speaking on the occasion, representatives of the Youth Empowerment Organisation (YEO) said that the initiative reflects the organisation’s continued commitment to empowering youth through quality skill development, preserving traditional crafts, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in remote and aspirational regions.
