Srinagar, July 9 (JKNS): The Indian Army’s Northern Command has reaffirmed its commitment towards building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting its extensive outreach under the 100-day Nasha Mukti Abhiyan through awareness campaigns, community engagement and youth-centric programmes across the Union Territory.
According to a statement and awareness video released by the Northern Command, a copy of which is with news agency JKNS, the Army, in partnership with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, actively participated in the anti-drug campaign to inspire the youth to stay away from substance abuse and work towards a better future.
The Army said that under the campaign, interactions were held with more than 5,000 students across over 50 schools and colleges, while over 30 rallies and marathons, parents’ counselling workshops, more than 75 awareness lectures, pledge ceremonies and over 70 youth awareness programmes were organised across Jammu and Kashmir.
The awareness campaign carried the message, “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life,” encouraging youth to choose a healthy lifestyle and contribute towards nation-building.
Northern Command said the Indian Army not only safeguards the nation’s borders but also remains committed to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening society, including campaigns against drug abuse.
The Army urged citizens, particularly the youth, to join the collective resolve of making Jammu and Kashmir and the country free from drugs under the vision of “Nashamukt aur Shashakat Jammu & Kashmir” and “Drug-Free India.” (JKNS)
