Baramulla, July 9 (JKNS): The Indian Army, under the aegis of the Chinar Corps, successfully organised the Gujjar–Bakarwal Mela 2026 at Butapathri in Baramulla district, celebrating the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and resilience of the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 900 members of the Gujjar and Bakarwal community, reflecting the strong bond between the Indian Army and the local population. The mela served as a vibrant platform for cultural exchange, community interaction, and mutual understanding, showcasing the unique traditions and customs of these indigenous communities.

Through a series of cultural performances and community engagement activities, the event promoted unity, trust, and inclusivity while encouraging meaningful interaction between the local populace and the Army.

The outreach initiative reaffirmed the commitment of the Dagger Division towards strengthening civil-military relations and fostering an environment of cooperation, harmony, and shared progress. It also highlighted the Army’s continued efforts to engage with local communities through people-centric initiatives aimed at building confidence and supporting inclusive development.

The Gujjar–Bakarwal Mela 2026 concluded on a high note, leaving participants with a renewed sense of pride in their cultural identity and reinforcing the enduring partnership between the Indian Army and the people of the region. (JKNS)
