“Following the exchange of fire, the body of a terrorist was spotted and subsequently recovered. Arms and ammunition were also found at the site,” the sources said.

They said the identity of the slain terrorist is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police, in a post on X, said, “You Can Run But You Can’t Hide! One Lashkar terrorist neutralised by SOG Shopian, in a joint operation along with RR and CRPF.”

Officials said the operation is still underway and further details will be shared after the area is fully sanitised.

The encounter, which began on Saturday, has now entered its fifth day, with security forces maintaining a tight cordon around the area. (JKNS)
