Srinagar, July 7 (JKNS): The Indian Army on Tuesday paid tribute to Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026, remembering his extraordinary courage and supreme sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil War.
In a post on X, as per news agency JKNS, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG-PI), Indian Army, shared a tribute under the hashtag #KVD2026, honouring Captain Vikram Batra, PVC, of 13 Jammu & Kashmir Rifles.
Captain Vikram Batra is remembered as one of the most celebrated heroes of the Kargil War for his exceptional bravery in recapturing strategic mountain peaks before laying down his life in the line of duty. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest wartime gallantry award.
The Indian Army’s tribute forms part of the nationwide commemorations marking Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026, honouring the courage, sacrifice and valour of the soldiers who defended the nation’s sovereignty during the conflict. (JKNS)
