Srinagar, July 4 (JKNS): Gunshots were heard during an anti-terror cordon-and-search operation (CASO) launched by joint security forces in the Saidapora forest area of Shopian district in south Kashmir on Saturday.
A senior police officer told news agency JKNS that the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
The officer said that while security forces were conducting intensive searches, a few gunshots were heard from the area, prompting the forces to tighten the cordon and continue the operation with heightened caution.
“The search operation is underway, and more reinforcements of security forces have been rushed to the area,” the officer said. (JKNS)
