Srinagar, Jun 20 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday placed Dr. Syed Maqbool Ahmad Shah, Associate Professor of Cardiology presently deputed to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, under suspension pending enquiry into his conduct.

According to Government Order No. 504-JK (HME) of 2026 dated June 20, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, the action has been taken under Rule 31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.

The order states that pending completion of the enquiry, Dr. Syed Maqbool Ahmad Shah shall remain under suspension with immediate effect.

During the suspension period, the doctor has been attached to the office of Government Medical College Jammu, the order reads.

The order was issued by the Health and Medical Education Department and signed by Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, M. Raju, IAS.

The suspension comes amid an ongoing departmental enquiry into alleged irregularities linked to cardiac procedures conducted at GMC Anantnag. (JKNS)
