Repeat Drug Offender Detained Under PIT-NDPS Act as Anantnag Police Tightens Noose on Narcotics Network

Anantnag, June 16 (JKNS): In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Anantnag Police has booked a notorious and repeat drug peddler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, invoking preventive detention to curb his continued involvement in narcotics trade and protect youth from the growing drug menace.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, Police has booked a notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act.

The accused, Nisar Ahmad Gagroo S/o Late Ali Mohammad Gagroo R/o Soaf Shali, Kokernag, was found to be involved in multiple cases registered under the NDPS Act and had been persistently engaged in illicit drug trafficking activities, posing a serious threat to society, particularly the youth.

Acting on the dossier prepared by Anantnag Police and after obtaining the necessary approval from the competent authority, the accused was booked under the PIT-NDPS Act. He is presently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, where the detention warrant was executed.

The preventive detention has been invoked to effectively curb his involvement in narcotics-related activities and to prevent him from continuing to engage in drug trafficking.

Anantnag Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drugs and will continue to take stringent legal action against drug peddlers and other individuals involved in narcotics-related offences to ensure a drug-free society. (JKNS)
