As per news agency JKNS, farmers said that while the paddy plantation season is currently underway, the non-availability of water in agricultural fields has created immense hardships for cultivators.

They stated that the ongoing water crisis is affecting farming activities and raising concerns about crop productivity across the region.

Meanwhile, former MLC Sonawari and PDP leader Yaser Reshi and other leaders also visited the Area and Interacted with Farmers and strongly criticized the sitting MLA over the issue.

Speaking to the media, Reshi said that Sonawari is predominantly an agricultural region and serves as a major hub of farming activities.

He remarked that the shortage of irrigation water in such an important agricultural belt is a matter of serious concern and reflects the failure of the present MLA to address the needs of farmers.

Reshi said it is unfortunate that farmers are struggling for water at a time when irrigation is most needed for paddy cultivation. He urged the government and the concerned departments to take immediate steps to restore adequate water supply to the affected areas.

Residents of Markundal and adjoining villages also appealed to the administration to intervene on a priority basis and ensure that irrigation facilities are restored without further delay so that farmers can carry out cultivation smoothly and save their crops from damage. (JKNS)
