Kupwara, Jun 8 (JKNS): Commissioner/Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Jammu & Kashmir,Sarmad Hafeez, today visited the Kunan-Poshpora in Kupwara district to review progress under Vibrant Villages Programme-2 (VVP).

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, along with other concerned officers, accompanied the Commissioner/Secretary during the visit.

During the meeting held at the Block Headquarter Trehgam, He reviewed the status of infrastructure,service delivery and implementation of ongoing schemes as well as Gap analysis done by district administration in critical sectors such as connectivity, health, education, livelihoods and digital access.

He stressed upon the importance of convergence of different schemes and preparation of holistic village action plans based on gap analysis and baseline data.

Later, Commissioner/Secretary visited Kunan-Poshpora and chaired a public interaction programme to get first hand appraisal of demands and exception of general public. During the interaction, prominent citizens, village elders and local residents highlighted several developmental issues and demands, including construction of a playground and Childrens park, macadamisation of inner roads, protection of riverbanks along Kehmil Nallah,sanitation,drinking and irrigation water availability, upgradation of school and health centre etc.

The Commissioner/Secretary gave patient hearing to demands raised and assured the residents that all genuine issues would be addressed in a time-bound manner through the concerned departments.He also directed officers to intensify awareness and outreach campaigns regarding different welfare schemes to ensure 100% saturation in these villages.

On the occasion,the Commissioner/Secretary handed over kits under PMMVY among newborn through their mothers and scooty to empower specially-abled beneficiary.Programme Officer ICDS Kupwara, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat and other concerned officers were also present during the visit.
