Forgery for Service Extension Exposed: Crime Branch Chargesheets Two in Birth Certificate Fraud Case

Accused allegedly concealed qualifications, manipulated age records and secured unlawful service benefits; EOW says State exchequer suffered losses

Srinagar, June 7 (JKNS): The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet against two individuals for allegedly using forged certificates and manipulated date-of-birth records to secure extended government service and draw unlawful financial benefits, causing losses to the State exchequer.

As per news agency JKNS, EOW Kashmir, of Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 05/2026 under Sections 420, 468, and 471 RPC before the Hon’ble Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Sumbal, against two accused persons: Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, son of Mohammad Jawad Bhat, and Assadullah Bhat, son of Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Rakhi Shilwat, Sumbal, District Bandipora, for offences relating to Cheating and Forgery.

Investigation found that the accused concealed their educational qualifications, falsely claimed illiteracy, and obtained altered dates of birth through fraudulent certificates. This led to incorrect service records and unlawful extension of service tenure. They gained undue financial benefits, causing loss to the State exchequer. The chargesheet has been filed before the Court.

The general public is advised to remain vigilant against economic fraud and report any such incidents to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, Crime Branch J&K.
