Srinagar, May 21 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday clarified that no decision has been taken regarding the introduction of online classes in schools and colleges across the Union Territory, though authorities are prepared to shift to virtual mode if the need arises.

Commissioner Secretary, School Education Department, Ram Niwas Sharma, who also holds additional charge of the Higher Education Department, as per news agency JKNS told reporters that no plan has been finalized so far for switching educational institutions to online mode.

Speaking to reporters, Sharma said that if circumstances demand, the government is fully prepared to conduct classes through online platforms in both schools and colleges.

Responding to a query regarding a possible fuel crisis due to the prevailing situation in West Asia and whether it could impact physical classes, Sharma said no such decision has been taken at present.

“We have not made any plan in this regard yet. Whenever any decision is taken at the national level, we will accordingly take a call,” he said.

He, however, added that educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir are equipped and ready for online teaching if required.

“If necessary, we will go to online mode in schools and colleges, but no decision has been taken yet,” the Commissioner Secretary said. (JKNS)
