Karnah, May 20 (JKNS): In a historic development for the remote border region of Karnah, the long-awaited dream of road connectivity for Kadhama village, situated near the Line of Control (LoC), has finally begun to take shape. Local MLA Javed Ahmad Mirchal on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a vital road project worth nearly ₹12 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

As per news agency JKNS, The occasion was marked by a well-attended public gathering where local residents expressed immense happiness and gratitude, describing the project as a landmark moment in the history of the area. For decades, the people of Kadhama have remained deprived of proper road access, facing immense hardships in healthcare, transportation, education, and daily life.

The foundation stone ceremony witnessed the presence of several prominent personalities and senior workers of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, including Haji Tasleem Mir, Personal Secretary to the MLA Karnah and President Beopar Mandal Karnah, Khalid Shuja Badhana, Engineer Jameel Khan, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh (Block President), Chudhary Mohammad Yousuf, along with many senior National Conference workers and respected local citizens.

Locals stated that since independence, Kadhama village had remained disconnected from a proper road network, forcing residents to travel through difficult and unsafe paths, especially during harsh winters and adverse weather conditions. Patients, students, and elderly people often faced severe difficulties due to the lack of transportation facilities.

Residents said that the village frequently remained cut off from nearby areas because of snowfall, muddy tracks, and inaccessible terrain. However, with the commencement of this major road project, they believe a new era of development and connectivity will begin for the border village.

Speaking on the occasion, local residents thanked the government and concerned authorities for addressing one of the region’s oldest demands. They expressed hope that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeframe so that the people of the area could finally get relief from decades of suffering and isolation.

Prominent citizens and youth of the area termed the project a major step towards the development of border regions, saying that improved road connectivity would not only ease transportation but also significantly improve access to education, healthcare, trade, and other essential services. (JKNS)
