Several Houses, Vehicle Damaged in Zaingair and Adjoining Villages; Affected Families Seek Immediate Relief

Dozens of Rooftops Damaged as Windstorm Batters Sopore Areas

Sopore, May 21 (JKNS): A powerful windstorm caused widespread damage across Zaingair and adjoining areas of Sopore on Wednesday evening, damaging dozens of rooftops and several residential houses, officials and locals said.

Locals told news agency JKNS that a residential house belonging to Mohammad Ishaq Khatana suffered major damage after the rooftop was completely blown away during the storm. A vehicle parked nearby was also partially damaged due to the strong winds.

Besides this, houses belonging to Parvaiz Ahmad Shah and Mohammad Sadiq Shah, residents of Shangergund Sopore, also sustained damage in the storm.

Another house owned by Zubair Majeed Dar, son of Abdul Majeed Dar, resident of Hardushiva Sopore, and a house belonging to Nazir Ahmad Dar, son of Ahad Dar, resident of Bagat Colony Dangerpora Sopore, were also reportedly damaged.

Residents said dozens of rooftops were damaged in Zaingair and nearby areas, triggering panic among locals.

The affected families have appealed to the administration for immediate relief and compensation.

Meanwhile, Tehsildar Zaingair Bomai has deputed a team to assess the losses caused by the windstorm. (JKNS)
