Srinagar, May 19 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Congress president and Batamaloo MLA Tariq Hameed Karra on Tuesday said there is no immediate threat to the alliance between the Congress and the National Conference (NC), asserting that there is “no need to panic” over speculations regarding differences between the two parties.

Speaking to reporters, Karra, as per news agency JKNS, said the issue of the NC-Congress alliance should not be viewed with unnecessary intensity.

He said that during a 10-day training programme of district presidents from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi interacted with party functionaries on April 30 and discussed organisational matters and concerns raised by district presidents from various states.

Karra said the district presidents presented their issues and views regarding the functioning of the alliance during the interaction.

“As far as any decision regarding the alliance is concerned, no such discussion has taken place with Rahul Gandhi so far,” he said, adding that if needed, the party’s executive body would be consulted.

He maintained that there is currently no situation warranting concern and said the alliance partners are expected to move forward by fulfilling their respective agendas. (JKNS)
