Srinagar, May 19 (JKNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday honoured J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Syed Darakhshan Andrabi and four other prominent women personalities with the prestigious Lal Ded National Awards during a ceremony organised by Sarhad Foundation at SKICC Srinagar.

As per news agency JKNS, The award ceremony was organised by Sarhad Foundation, a national-level social and cultural organisation, in recognition of the contributions of women achievers from Jammu and Kashmir in various fields.

Dr Darakhshan Andrabi was honoured for her significant contribution towards the revival of the Sufi-Rishi cultural circuit in Jammu and Kashmir and for her efforts in promoting communal harmony and social cohesion over the past two decades.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarhad Foundation Chairman Sanjay Nahar said that Dr Andrabi’s contribution to social life, literature and intellectual discourse deserves national recognition and appreciation.

After receiving the award, Dr Andrabi expressed gratitude to Sarhad Foundation for celebrating Nari Shakti and instituting national awards in the name of Lal Ded, whom she described as the revered spiritual mother of all communities in Kashmir.

The function was attended by prominent social, literary and cultural personalities along with officials and guests from different walks of life. (JKNS)
