During the inspections, Food Business Operators (FBOs) were sensitised about Good Storage Practices and the importance of maintaining proper temperature conditions for perishable food items.

Officials said one tea stall was directed to stop operations after being found violating Schedule 4(2) of the Food Safety and Standards Act pertaining to hygiene and sanitary requirements.

In addition, two Food Business Operators were compounded on the spot for violating provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The Food Safety Department once again directed all Food Business Operators not to expose food items to direct sunlight and to store food products strictly as per label requirements and prescribed storage conditions.

Officials warned that any violation of food safety norms or improper storage practices would invite strict legal action under the relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The department said the inspection drive will continue across Srinagar city in the coming days. (JKNS)
