Jammu, May 12 (JKNS): In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking and illegal arms networks, Jammu Police on Tuesday arrested a wanted criminal allegedly involved in multiple NDPS and Arms Act cases and recovered a commercial quantity of heroin-like substance along with a loaded illegal Glock pistol and live ammunition from his possession during a naka operation in Jammu outskirts.

As per news agency JKNS, Jammu Police has achieved a major success in its ongoing drive against drug trafficking and illegal weapons by apprehending one accused and recovering commercial quantity of heroin-like substance along with an illegal pistol and live ammunition from his possession. He had 17 pending FIRs against him.

 

 

 

 

A police team of Police Station Bahu Fort, while conducting naka checking near Railway Pul Narwal on the Narwal–Panama Chowk road on 12.05.2026 at about 0030 hrs, intercepted one suspicious person who attempted to avoid the naka after noticing the police party.

 

During checking and personal search, one Glock pistol loaded with three live rounds and approximately 266.35 grams of heroin-like substance (“Chitta”), including polythene packets, were recovered from his conscious possession.

 

 

 

 

The accused was identified as Avneet Singh @ Nagi S/o Vikram Singh R/o Sundarpur, R.S. Pura, Jammu. He failed to produce any valid licence or satisfactory explanation regarding possession of the recovered contraband and illegal firearm. Accordingly, FIR No. 111/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/27-A NDPS Act and 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation has been taken up.

 

 

 

 

Pertinently, the accused is involved in 17 criminal cases related to NDPS Act, Arms Act and other heinous offences registered at RS Pura, Gharota, Miran Sahib, Satwari, Ramgarh and Dinanagar Pathankot. At the Special Naka in Miran Sahib earlier, his associate Jaanu had been injured while trying to flee.

 

 

 

 

Jammu Police remains committed to curbing drug menace and illegal activities and appeals to the public to cooperate with police and share information regarding any suspicious activities in their area. (JKNS)
