Budgam, May 10 (JKNS): Under the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign, the Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee (JKECC) organized a barefoot anti-drug foot march from Boys Higher Secondary School Magam to the Srinagar–Gulmarg Road in Budgam district to raise awareness against the growing menace of drug abuse.

In a symbolic gesture to highlight the seriousness of substance abuse in society, all participants in the rally walked barefoot during the march. A large number of men and women enthusiastically participated in the awareness programme.

 

During the march, speakers and participants appealed to the public to join hands in making society drug-free, emphasizing that eliminating drug addiction is a collective responsibility of every citizen. Participants carried placards displaying anti-drug slogans and messages promoting awareness, unity, and social responsibility.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Shah Fayaz said that the increasing threat of drug addiction among youth is a matter of grave concern and requires collective efforts from society, parents, educational institutions, and government agencies. He stressed the need for continuous awareness programmes to protect future generations from the dangers of substance abuse.

 

Meanwhile, Dar Ajaz said that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan aims to spread awareness at the grassroots level and encourage people to actively participate in building a healthy and drug-free society. He added that such programmes would continue in different areas to educate youth and strengthen the fight against drug abuse.

 

On the occasion, Sareer Ahmad, Headmaster of Middle School, also appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and focus on education, positive activities, and building a better future. He said that drug abuse is a serious threat to society and urged parents, teachers, and community members to work together in guiding young people towards a responsible and dignified life.

 

Speaking to the media, Lone Javid said that the main objective of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is to keep the youth away from drugs and protect them from this growing menace. He said that awareness rallies and programmes regarding the harmful effects of drugs would continue in the future to educate people, especially the younger generation, and help build a healthy and responsible society.

 

The organizers reiterated their commitment to continue awareness campaigns in different areas to educate youth and encourage collective action against substance abuse.

 

The Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee (JKECC) expressed heartfelt gratitude to the District Development Commissioner Budgam, Mr. Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), Additional Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mr. Miraj Din Shah (JKAS), SSP Budgam Shri Hariprasad K.K (IPS), SDPO Magam, SHO Magam, ARTO Budgam, and Principal BHHS Magam, Mr. Tariq Ahmad War, along with all staff members, for their valuable support and cooperation in providing permission, security arrangements, and venue facilities for the successful conduct of the barefoot march under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

 

JKECC also extended sincere thanks to members of the electronic and print media fraternity for their active coverage and support in highlighting the message of drug de-addiction and social awareness among the masses. The organization appreciated the role of the media in spreading awareness and promoting constructive social initiatives.

 

The committee stated that the timely assistance, coordination, and proactive support extended by the administration, police authorities, educational institutions, and media fraternity played a vital role in ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the awareness programme.

 

JKECC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening social awareness campaigns and public welfare initiatives aimed at building a drug-free and responsible society. (JKNS)
