DLSA Ganderbal conducted 2nd National Lok Adalat of the year 2026

Srinagar, May 9 (JKNS): District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) & Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal successfully conducted 2ndNational Lok-Adalat of the year 2026, today on May 9 in District Ganderbal.

The 2nd National Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Mr. Abdul Nasir, Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge), Ganderbal in presence of Ld. Judicial Officers and Secretary, DLSA of District Court Ganderbal and other notable attendees included LADCs, Panel Lawyers, Bar Members, bank officials, representatives of various departments, Adhikar Mitras and litigants.

 

The National Lok Adalat was held under the able direction and supervision of Mr. Abdul Nasir, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge), Ganderbal and under the guidance of Mr. Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal where different types of cases were taken up for settlement, which includes MACT claims, Bank Recovery Cases, Bank Pre-Litigation Cases, Criminal Compoundable Cases, Matrimonial Cases, Civil Cases and Traffic Challans and BSNL Bills.

 

A total of Six (6) Benches were constituted for amicable settlement of the cases, the first bench was presided over by Mr. Abdul Nasir, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Ganderbal with Advocate Sajad Hyder Salathi as Bench Member.

 

The second bench was presided over by Ms. Fauzia Paul, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Ganderbal with Ms. Burjeena Hameed, Assistant LADC, Ganderbal as Bench Member.

 

The third bench was presided over by Ms. Nusrat Ali Hakak, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ganderbal with Mr. Tanveer Ashraf, Assistant LADC, Ganderbal as Bench Member. The fourth Bench was presided over by Mr. Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary DLSA, Ganderbal with Mr. Sajid Irfan, Deputy LADC, Ganderbal as Bench Member. The fifth bench was presided over by Ms. Mahoor, Munsiff/ JMIC, Ganderbal with Ms. Shaheena Ali, Assistant, LADC, Ganderbal as Bench Member. The sixth bench was presided over by Mr. Moonis Wahid, Munsiff/ JMIC, Kangan with Advocate Suhail Ahmad Mir, Panel Lawyer as Bench Member. The first to fifth bench heard cases at the District Court Complex, Ganderbal, while as the sixth bench heard cases at the Munsiff Court Complex, Kangan.

 

A total number of 384 cases were taken up, out of which 283 cases were amicably settled, resulting in a settlement amount of Rs 5179792 The cases settled included bank recovery cases, matrimonial cases, Civil Cases and pre-litigation Matters.

The litigants and Bank Officials were made aware that other Lok-Adalats shall be held in the near future and pre-litigation as well as pending bank cases shall be taken for settlement. The Bank loan defaulter as well the bank officials were also made aware that in pre-litigation bank recovery cases, no Court fee, counsel fee is to be chargeable and hence the Lok Adalat is most appropriate method to settle the cases without payment of any type Court fees as well as the other fees.

The National Lok Adalat aimed to provide a platform for amicable settlement of disputes, promoting justice and reducing pending cases. The DLSA Ganderbal has achieved this objective by settling a significant number of cases through the Lok Adalat. (JKNS)
