Tragedy in Hajin: Three Youths Drown in Jhelum River, Bodies Recovered After Rescue Operation

Bandipora, May 8 (JKNS): Three youths lost their lives after drowning in the river Jhelum in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora on Friday, officials said.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the tragic incident occurred in the Chandergeer area of Hajin when the youths were reportedly washing tent material along the banks of the river.

Soon after the incident, local residents and volunteers launched a rescue operation in the area. During the initial rescue efforts, two bodies were recovered from the river, while the third body was retrieved later after continued searches.

The deceased have been identified as Adil Ahmad Dar, son of Bashir Ahmad Dar, Sameer Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Jamal Dar, and Sohail Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar. All three were residents of Chandergeer Hajin.

Officials said the bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for completion of medico-legal formalities, while further proceedings have been initiated in the matter. (JKNS)
