Anantnag, May 8 (JKNS): The Tehsil administration Anantnag on Friday carried out a massive anti-encroachment drive at Lohersinzi area of Kokernag following public complaints regarding encroachment on an irrigation channel and public access pathway.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the encroachment had significantly narrowed the pathway leading to agricultural fields, causing inconvenience to local farmers in accessing their land.

Acting on the grievances, a joint team comprising officials from the Tehsil administration led by Tehsildar Kokernag and Police Station Kokernag launched a demolition and clearance operation in the area on Thursday morning.

During the drive, the encroached portion was cleared and the public pathway along with the irrigation channel was restored for common use, officials said.

The administration also imposed penalties on the encroachers and issued strict warnings against any fresh encroachment, stating that further legal action will be taken in case of violations. (JKNS)
