Kashmir Sizzles as Temperatures Soar Above Normal Across Valley; Srinagar Touches 30°C

Srinagar, May 8 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir continued to witness dry weather conditions on Friday, with several places across the Valley recording temperatures above normal, while Srinagar touched 30 degrees Celsius, officials said.

According to the Meteorological Department data available with news agency JKNS stated that, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 30.0°C, which was 5.9 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 13.0°C.

Qazigund recorded a maximum temperature of 29.6°C, which was 6.4 degrees above normal, while Pahalgam registered 24.1°C, above normal by 3.4 degrees. Kupwara recorded 28.3°C and Kukernag settled at 27.6°C, both remaining above normal for the season.

Gulmarg, the famous tourist resort, recorded a maximum temperature of 21.2°C, which was 6.5 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 6.5°C.

In the Jammu division, Jammu city recorded a maximum temperature of 32.8°C, while Banihal, Batote, Katra and Bhaderwah also witnessed mainly dry weather conditions.

The MeT department said no major rainfall activity was recorded across Jammu and Kashmir during the day, while humidity levels remained moderate in most places.

The weather is likely to remain generally dry during the next few days, with temperatures expected to stay above normal in many areas of the Union Territory. (JKNS)
