Srinagar Police Crack Down on Illegal Pharmacies, 5 Medical Shops Sealed in Qamarwari

Srinagar, May 6 (JKNS): In a major enforcement action under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Srinagar Police, in coordination with the Drug and Food Control Department, sealed five medical shops in Qamarwari after detecting serious violations including expired medicines, invalid stock records, and breaches of psychotropic substance regulations, officials said.

Police sealed 05 medical shops with invalid stock details, expired medicines, and violations of psychotropic substance protocols in the Qamarwari area.

In a decisive move under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 100-day campaign, the Srinagar Police, in collaboration with the Drug and Food Control Department, conducted an inspection in the Qamarwari area.

The operation resulted in the immediate sealing of five medical shops found in flagrant violation of safety and legal regulations, including the sale of expired medicines and breaches of psychotropic substance protocols.

The penalized establishments include New MS Medicate operated by Mohd Asif Matta, son of Jalal Uddin Matta, a resident of Bilal Colony, Qamarwari, and Majid Medicate operated by the daughter of late Ab Majeed Sheikh. Authorities also sealed Kashif Medicate operated by Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Qamarwari.

Similarly, Baitul Shifa operated by Shabir Ahmad Dar, son of Khazir Mohammad Dar, a resident of Qamarwari Bund, and Hamad Medicate operated by Mohd Hussain Najar, son of Abdul Ahad Najar, a resident of Qamarabad, Qamarwari, were also sealed during the drive for violations of prescribed norms.

By shutting down these outlets, the Srinagar Police have reaffirmed their commitment to public health and the strict enforcement of pharmaceutical standards, with further legal proceedings already initiated against the violators. (JKNS)
