Illegal Drug Trade Curbed in Sopore; Two Chemist Shops Sealed in Ongoing Crackdown

Sopore, May 5 (JKNS): Intensifying its action against illegal pharmaceutical practices, Sopore Police along with Drug Control authorities have sealed two more non-compliant chemist shops, stepping up efforts to curb misuse of drugs under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.

As per news agency JKNS, Sopore Police, in coordination with the Drug Control authorities, have taken further stringent action against illegal pharmaceutical practices in Police District Sopore.

During a joint inspection at Dangerpora and Sopore, two chemist shops were found in violation of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act. The shops were being run by Sameer Ahmad Dar, S/O Mohammad Rajab Dar, R/O Dangerpora, and Ghulam Hassan Dar, S/O Ghulam Mohammad Dar, R/O Sopore.

Acting promptly, the Drug Inspector sealed both premises on the spot after following due legal procedure and legal action has been initiated against the proprietors under relevant provisions of law.

With this, the total number of such enforcement actions has risen to seven, reflecting sustained and targeted action against unlicensed and non-compliant chemist shops across the district.

Sopore Police reiterated that no unlicensed or non-compliant medical store will be allowed to operate, and any violation involving illegal sale or storage of medicines or psychotropic substances will invite strict and immediate legal action.

The public is advised to purchase medicines only from authorised and licensed chemists.

Sopore Police reaffirmed their commitment to strict enforcement under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to curb misuse of drugs and ensure a safer, healthier and drug-free society. (JKNS)
