Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony of the “All India Inter-University Wushu Championship (Men/Women)” at University of Kashmir, Prof Khan, as per news agency JKNS, said that alongside players and team managers, an observation team from the Association of Indian Universities is also present to oversee the event.

“Our Honourable Chancellor has consistently given a strong message on youth empowerment. Even today, he emphasised the importance of engaging youth in sports to keep them away from drugs. The University of Kashmir strongly upholds this message and actively organises youth-centric events, including sports and cultural programmes at national level,” she said.

She added that participation from around 195 universities across the country, including institutions from Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Haryana and BHU, reflects the scale and importance of the event.

“The weather has also been very supportive, and the participants have thoroughly enjoyed their time here. This event sends a positive message from Kashmir about the importance of youth engagement and national integration,” she said.

Prof Khan further said that such platforms are important for overall development of students. “It is important for youth to participate, work hard and give their best. Winning is important, but participation itself builds confidence and motivation,” she said.

She expressed confidence in a fair and transparent evaluation process, stating that all results will be based on merit and proper judgment by the panel.

Giving a message to the youth, she said, “Young people have a vital role in the development of the country. They must actively participate in constructive activities like sports and contribute positively to society.” (JKNS)
