Srinagar, May 3 (JKNS): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar on Sunday said that over 30,000 people voluntarily participated in the anti-drug rally led by Lieutenant Governor at Lal Chowk, marking a significant step under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

Speaking to reporters after the culmination of the rally, SSP Sundeep, as per news agency JKNS, said, “Under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, today’s rally was organised in line with the vision of the Hon’ble LG Manoj Sinha.”

“Nearly 30,000 people voluntarily participated, which reflects strong public support. Srinagar Police ensured comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements for the event,” SSP G.V Sundeep said.

He said the police have devised a clear strategy for the coming months. “Along with awareness, we have prepared a focused action plan for the next three months. We will specifically target the drug ecosystem, including financial networks, drug peddlers and smugglers,” he said.

Issuing a stern warning, SSP Sundeep said, “Those involved in drug-related activities must abandon this illegal trade, otherwise strict legal action will be taken against them.”

He emphasised that the fight against drugs is not the responsibility of police alone. “This is not just a police battle; it is a fight of the entire society. We urge the community to cooperate and participate actively. Public support and information sharing are crucial in this fight,” he said.

Reassuring citizens, he added, “There is no need to fear while sharing information. Identities will be kept anonymous. With public support, we can eliminate drugs from society, and together, we will win this battle.” (JKNS)
