Srinagar, May 1 (JKNS): Residents of Jogiwan Rehmani Colony in Hawal area of Srinagar on Friday expressed strong resentment after a local transformer developed a technical fault, resulting in a complete disruption of electricity supply despite the area already being equipped with smart meters.

As per news agency JKNS, locals said the transformer has remained non-functional for several hours, leaving dozens of households without power and causing severe inconvenience to residents. They alleged that repeated requests to the concerned authorities have so far gone unheeded.

Residents further said that even after the installation of smart meters, the damaged transformer has neither been repaired nor replaced, further aggravating the situation in the area.

A local resident said, “The transformer is still there, but no action is being taken. Our homes are without electricity, and no one is responding.”

Another resident added, “Even after smart meter installation, there is no improvement. The electricity problem remains the same. People are suffering and are demanding immediate government intervention.”

Locals have urged the Power Development Department to intervene without delay and restore electricity supply at the earliest. (JKNS)
