Budgam School Shines at South Asia Karate Championship; 11 Students Win Medals, Two Earn International Selection

Budgam, Apr 29 (JKNS):Students of New Daffodils English Medium School, Shahzadpora, Dangarpora, B.K. Pora, Budgam, delivered an outstanding performance at the 3rd JKS South Asia Karate Championship held on April 25 and 26, 2026 at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, bringing laurels to the institution and the district.

A total of eleven students from the school participated in the championship and secured gold, silver, and bronze medals through their exceptional skill, discipline, and dedication.

In a significant achievement, two of these students have been selected to represent in the upcoming Taekkyon International Karate Championship to be held in Oslo, Norway, marking a major milestone for both the school and the region.

 

The achievement was widely celebrated by the school administration, parents, and the local community. A warm felicitation ceremony was organized at the school to honor the successful students, where they were awarded for their remarkable performance. Parents expressed pride in their children and appreciated the efforts of the teachers and the school management.

 

On the occasion, Chairperson Syeda Urooja Andrabi expressed her over the students’ achievements, stating that the success is a matter of pride for the institution and reflects the collective efforts of both students and teachers. She reiterated that the school remains committed not only to academic excellence but also to encouraging participation in sports and co-curricular activities.

 

She further appreciated the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and the ongoing 100-day campaign launched under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, highlighting the administration’s strong action against drug-related activities in the district. She emphasized that sports serve as an effective means to guide youth towards a positive and disciplined path.

Expressing happiness, she said, “I am proud that our 11 students participated at the national level, and our aim is to encourage youth towards sports.”

Highlighting the social importance, she noted that at a time when a section of youth is drifting towards drug abuse, sports can play a crucial role in steering them towards constructive activities. She reaffirmed the school’s support for initiatives aimed at building a healthy, drug-free society.

The students also shared their views, thanking their coaches, teachers, and parents for their constant support, and pledged to work harder to achieve greater success in future competitions.

The school administration reiterated its commitment to nurturing students’ talents and providing them with opportunities to excel at national and international levels. (JKNS)
