Srinagar, Apr 28 (JKNS): Pulwama Police on Tuesday issued a strong advisory cautioning the public against circulating unverified and misleading content on social media regarding an alleged sexual assault incident in an educational institution, stating that the matter is under detailed examination and strict action will be taken against those spreading rumours.

Police spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, Pulwama Police has observed the circulation of certain unverified and misleading content on social media platforms concerning an alleged sexual assault incident in an educational institution.

 

It is clarified that the matter is under thorough examination, and all necessary verifications are being carried out as per established procedures, it reads.

 

Statement further reads, The public is strictly advised to refrain from sharing, forwarding, or engaging with unsubstantiated claims and rumours. Such irresponsible dissemination of information not only misleads the public but also has the potential to create panic and disturb public order.

 

Pulwama Police reiterates that strict legal action shall be initiated against any individual found involved in the creation or propagation of false and misleading information, it reads.

 

Citizens are urged to exercise responsibility and rely solely on official and verified sources for accurate updates, statement reads. (JKNS)
