National Sports Vision Document ‘Srinagar Khel Sankalp’ Released at Chintan Shivir

Srinagar, Apr 26 (JKNS): On the concluding day of the three-day Chintan Shivir in Srinagar, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, along with Sports Ministers from various States and leading sporting personalities, unveiled the ‘Srinagar Khel Sankalp’, outlining a unified national vision to strengthen sports culture across the country.

The document, as per news agency JKNS, lays emphasis on cooperative federalism and an athlete-centric approach, focusing on expansion of sports infrastructure, talent identification, development of regional sports clusters, and leveraging sports for youth empowerment, national unity, tourism and economic growth. It also reiterates India’s ambition to host major global sporting events in the future.

Highlighting the spirit of unity, the Sankalp underscores that States, Union Territories, Sports Federations and the Centre will work in close coordination, moving forward with shared goals and a common vision to uplift sports at every level. It stresses that India’s diversity will be harnessed to develop region-specific sporting ecosystems based on local geography, culture and strengths.

 

The document further recognizes sports as a powerful driver of socio-economic development, capable of boosting tourism, attracting global events and creating new economic opportunities, while fostering health, discipline and social cohesion among youth.

 

Reaffirming commitment towards nation-building through sports, the participants pledged to transform the sporting landscape of the country, ensuring that every athlete gets the opportunity to excel and every child has access to fitness and sporting activities. (JKNS)
