Srinagar, Apr 26 (JKNS): The Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative was held in Srinagar on Sunday with enthusiastic participation from citizens, officials, and sports personalities, as Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya and Jammu & Kashmir Sports Minister Satish Sharma joined the event,

As per news agency JKNS, The cycling drive began early morning from the Police Golf Course Srinagar and concluded at Royal Springs Golf Course, witnessing participation from youth, fitness enthusiasts, and members of various sports and social organisations, reflecting growing awareness towards healthy living.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the “Sunday on Cycle” initiative is a nationwide message of fitness and discipline, aimed at building a healthier society. He said that if India has to become a developed nation, its citizens must remain physically fit and active.

“The Sunday on Cycle is a message of fitness. If India has to become a developed country, the citizens will have to remain fit. When citizens are fit, society will be healthy. Only a healthy society can make India a developed nation,” Mandaviya said.

He further said that under the Fit India Movement, cycling events are being organised at around 16,000 locations across the country every Sunday to promote physical activity and awareness about health and fitness among the masses.

Mandaviya also highlighted the role of youth, stating that from now onwards, young participants in Srinagar will contribute to the national fitness campaign by adopting cycling as a regular Sunday activity, thereby spreading the message of “Fit India” across the region.

Jammu & Kashmir Sports Minister Satish Sharma also participated in the event and appreciated the initiative, stating that such programmes help in building a strong sports and fitness culture among youth while encouraging active lifestyles. (JKNS)
