Air Raid Mock Drill, Blackout Exercise in Baramulla on April 24

DDMA urges public to remain calm, cooperate with authorities during preparedness exercise

Srinagar, Apr 23 (JKNS): District Disaster Management Authority Baramulla has announced that a Civil Defence Air Raid Mock Drill and Blackout Exercise will be conducted on April 24, 2026, at Showkat Ali Stadium to strengthen emergency preparedness and response mechanisms.

According to a public notice issued by the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla as per news agency JKNS, the exercise will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, Air Raid Civil Defence Mock Drill, will be held at 12 noon, involving multiple agencies including police, SDRF, Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency Services, Revenue, Health, and Education departments.

The second phase, a planned blackout exercise, will take place at 8:00 PM, during which power supply will be temporarily switched off by Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited as part of the drill.

Authorities have clarified that the exercise is only a mock drill and there is no cause for panic. The general public has been advised to remain calm, follow instructions issued by officials, switch off lights during the blackout phase, and avoid spreading rumours or misinformation.

Officials added that movement may be regulated in certain areas to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise and urged citizens to extend full cooperation. (JKNS)
