Mughal Road Reopens for Traffic from April 23; Movement Allowed in Daytime Only

Authorities set timing, issue strict guidelines; BRO, Police to ensure safety and smooth flow

Srinagar, Apr 22 (JKNS): The District Magistrate Shopian on Wednesday ordered the reopening of Mughal Road for vehicular traffic from April 23, 2026, subject to favorable weather conditions and safety advisories.

According to the order, as per news agency JKNS, Mughal Road, particularly the stretch from Shopian (Km 0.00) to Peer Ki Gali (Km 40.550) on NH-701A, shall remain open for both Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) between 10:00 AM and 05:00 PM.

The order further states that the movement of vehicles will be strictly regulated as per advisories issued by the Traffic Police, keeping in view any unforeseen situation.

Meanwhile, OC 52 RCC (GREF), BRO has been directed to keep men and machinery ready to tackle any eventuality including landslides, avalanches, or shooting stones to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement.

The Senior Superintendent of Police Shopian, ARTO Shopian, and Dy SP Traffic Shopian have been instructed to deploy adequate personnel for strict implementation of the order on the ground. — (JKNS)
