The event was organized by the Save Sharda Committee Kashmir (Regd.) in collaboration with the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages and the Usha RK Foundation, Bangalore. It beautifully blended classical dance with spiritual philosophy, offering the audience a unique cultural experience.

“Adi Ashtakam” was based on the eight verses dedicated to Jagatguru Adi Shankaracharya, one of the greatest saints and philosophers of India, known for propagating the Advaita philosophy. The Bharatanatyam presentation artistically interpreted these verses, bringing alive his teachings through expressive movement and storytelling.

The programme was attended by several prominent dignitaries from administration, academia, and civil society, reflecting the significance of the occasion and the growing emphasis on cultural revival in the region.

The event also highlighted the deep historical connection of Kashmir with Advaita philosophy, as Adi Shankaracharya is believed to have contributed significantly to its spread and spiritual influence across India.

While addressing the gathering, the organizers stressed the importance of reviving and promoting the rich heritage of the Sharda civilization. They also emphasized the need to establish a Sharda University in the region to further explore and preserve this legacy.

The evening concluded on a high note, leaving the audience inspired by the elegance of Bharatanatyam and the timeless wisdom of Adi Shankaracharya. The event marked a significant step towards strengthening cultural ties and celebrating India’s classical traditions in Kashmir. (JKNS)
